Rachel wanted a vintage inspired wedding with soft details. She looked beautiful and the wedding was so lovely. The flowers were our main priority, as they gave the wedding an organic and rustic feeling. You might as well pull up a chair, this isn’t exactly a short one!

don’t panic, i am NOT pregnant. i just needed a time-consuming, fun project for the day and here is the product of my boredom! i’m considering getting into invitation/announcement design and i think my first attempt went well. let me know what you think, i’m looking for some constructive criticism!

did you just love the chandelier we used in the shoot earlier this summer? me too! and it’s an easy, if time-consuming DIY. wanna make one, here are the steps to make your own…

step 1. buy a hanging flower basket in a chandelier-y shape from Home Depot or Lowe’s

step 2. remove the brown grass stuff and spray paint the sucker white

step 3. make a sad face when the spray paint ends up all over your hands. don’t panic it’ll come off in a couple of days

step 4. count out the number of beads necessary to hang half way down the basket

step 5. secure beads with malleable wire by twisting

step 6. continue stringing beads, making sure to keep the strands’ lengths equal, all the way around the rim

step 7. trim off the excess metal wire

step 8. here’s where things can get a little tricky. in order to make the second layer, you’ll need to make your own second rim with a thicker wire by securing it with the malleable wire and hot gluing it to the basket. don’t worry, this does not need to be spray painted as it won’t be seen.

step 9. hang the basket from something at a height where you can work on it; we choose the shower curtain rod. classy, huh?

repeat steps 4-7 hanging beads down to your desired length

step 10. string plastic gems down the middle of the basket with fishing line to give the chandelier a little sparkle! don’t be afraid to make the chandelier your own.

step 11. step back and enjoy your masterpiece!

the pictures are finally ready and absolutely lovely thanks to the wonderfully talented ms. lizzy rinner (check out her website here)! i could not have pulled it off without the help of my oh-so-willing husband, can you believe he made that gorgeous chandelier? i can. he’s pretty much awesome. and is anyone else in love with this soft, early morning light? yum.

brendan and i recently went to a vintage-inspired diner here in the provo area and i fell in love. the whole laid back feel of the place, the delicious smell of pie and fries, killer good food, and great atmosphere. so, what else happens when i like something — i make a wedding board around it, of course.

i came upon a rusty toilet before art class one week in the HFAC. i had never seen rust turn metal these colors, especially that yummy teal color. after i accepted that i was completely crazy for being so in love with the colors on a toilet handle, i decided i would make a palette board around them…and possibly even a wedding board. crazy, i know. but i think it came out well, regardless of how insane i felt while taking the picture. haha.

for the past several months, i have been wishing to find a bride that wants an (almost) all paper wedding. it would be so cool…books, vintage postcards, typewriters, all in creams, browns, and whites.. mmmm…i love it already! unfortunately though, i have not yet found this fabulous girl. but, i have decided to make a wedding board for her anyway!
